EWC is seeking a highly motivated Digital Communications Associate to support summer communications, outreach, and fundraising initiatives.
This role will contribute to a range of communications priorities, including:
- social media content development
- short-form wildlife reels and educational content
- donor and fundraising communications
- project-based fundraising support
- campaign development for Giving Tuesday and year-end giving
This is an ideal opportunity for a student or recent graduate interested in digital communications, nonprofit storytelling, fundraising communications, or wildlife conservation outreach.
Responsibilities
Social Media & Content Creation
- Develop general social media content that promotes EWC’s mission, programs, campaigns, and wildlife advocacy work
- Create simple wildlife-focused reels and short-form content aligned with EWC’s mandate and seasonal moments such as Earth Day, wildlife awareness dates, and campaign opportunities
- Draft compelling captions, calls to action, and platform-appropriate messaging
- Use Canva or similar tools to create social graphics and visual assets
- Follow brand guidelines
Fundraising Campaign Support
- Support the development of fundraising campaigns across social media and email
- Create donor-facing content that supports general fundraising, project-based fundraising, and donor engagement
- Help develop campaign messaging for specific EWC priorities and projects as needed
- Support the development of EWC’s Giving Tuesday and year-end fundraising campaign, including email content and annual report support
- Contribute to storytelling approaches that connect wildlife conservation work to donor support
Communications Planning & Coordination
- Identify opportunities to adapt content across platforms, including social media, email, blog, and website
- Help organize content calendars, communication priorities, and campaign timelines
- Track basic performance metrics and help identify what content is resonating with audiences
- Support communication materials that strengthen public awareness of EWC’s programs and mission
Education, Knowledge & Experience Requirements
Required
- Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment (Canada Summer Jobs requirement)
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Strong writing, editing, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Interest in wildlife conservation, environmental communications, or nonprofit storytelling
- Familiarity with social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook
Preferred (Assets)
- Background in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or a related field
- Experience creating social media content, reels, or graphic assets
- Experience using Canva and Mailchimp
- Experience writing for donor, nonprofit, or public audiences
- Familiarity with nonprofit fundraising communications
- Knowledge of environmental or wildlife conservation issues in Western Canada
