Long before Exposed Wildlife Conservancy existed, our co-founders, John and Kim, documented wildlife across Canada, sharing moments that reveal not only the beauty of wild animals but also the challenges they face in an increasingly human-dominated landscape. Those stories have helped inform public conversations, inspired thousands of people, and laid the foundation for the work EWC does today.
Our Ambassador Program brings together a small community of photographers, filmmakers, writers, artists and storytellers who share that belief.
We believe conservation is strengthened when diverse voices come together. Every Ambassador brings their own perspective, but together we're sharing stories that foster curiosity, inspire action and demonstrate the importance of coexistence.
Every EWC Ambassador brings a unique perspective to wildlife conservation.
Some are photographers who capture powerful moments in nature. Others are filmmakers, writers, educators, researchers, or passionate advocates who help tell stories that deepen our understanding of wildlife and the challenges they face.
While their experiences and creative voices are diverse, they all share a commitment to ethical storytelling and a belief that conservation begins with understanding.

Co-Founder of EWC, John E. Marriott is one of Canada’s premier professional wildlife and nature photographers, with images published worldwide by National Geographic, BBC Wildlife, Canadian Geographic, Maclean's, and Reader’s Digest.
Colleen Gara is a wildlife and nature photographer based in Calgary, Alberta. Focusing on Canadian wildlife, she is passionate about photographing animals in their natural surroundings, from the Rocky Mountains to the prairies.
Tim Osborne is a photographer based out of St. Albert, Alberta, Canada. He aims to share the magic of our natural world and to help others develop an appreciation and respect for the world around them.
Wildlife is neither perfect nor predictable, and conservation is rarely simple.
We tell stories that reflect that reality. We celebrate remarkable moments in nature while also exploring the challenges, conflicts and difficult questions that shape conservation today. We avoid sensationalism because trust is built through honesty.
Ethics are at the heart of everything we do. We prioritize the wellbeing of wildlife above creating content and follow EWC's Wildlife Code of Ethics. No photograph, video, or story is ever worth compromising an animal's welfare or disrupting their natural behaviour.
Ambassadors are committed to behaving in a respectful manner in the work that they engage in as well as with the animals and people whom they interact with. Ambassadors understand that their words and actions are a reflection of Exposed Wildlife Conservancy and are a representation of the Conservancy’s values and beliefs.
Stewardship means using our talents and experiences to encourage appreciation, responsibility, professionalism, and long-term care for wildlife and wild places. We believe that every story has the potential to inspire someone to pay attention, and awareness is the first step toward conservation.
The Ambassador Program is dedicated to the memory of Lee Horbachewski, one of EWC's very first volunteers and Ambassadors. It was Lee’s kindness and generosity that helped shape the culture of EWC in its earliest days, and her enthusiasm was an inspiration to everyone fortunate enough to work alongside her.
Although Lee is no longer with us, we continue to honour her legacy of dedication and passion through the Ambassador Program.
As an Ambassador, you'll contribute in the way that feels most authentic to you, whether that's through photography, film, writing, art, education, or other forms of creative expression.
We intentionally grow our Ambassador community slowly. Rather than building a large network, we focus on bringing together a diverse group of people who are committed to ethical conservation and share a distinct set of values. Different backgrounds, lived experiences, creative disciplines, and perspectives all strengthen the stories we tell and the conversations we inspire.
